Last week I noticed swelling in my hands, feet, and legs. I took it upon myself to have my blood pressure checked. It was elevated but just enough to make one feel blah.
Monday I had my regular OB check-up, after testing me for different things, I was sent home with an "everything looks fine" report from the hospital.
I was to come back Friday for an ultrasound, "If you make it by then" my doctor said. (he said i was already spilling protein in my urine)
I just chuckled at him. I wasn't have major contractions, just normal braxton hicks.
While at home, I took Monday and Tuesday and rested.
Tuesday afternoon I got a dull headache. I just assumed it had to do with the low pressure weather system that was coming.
The headache didn't go away, it got worse.
I didn't sleep at all from Tuesday to Wednesday.
I didn't know what to do.
I have NEVER, EVER experienced a headache like that one.
I cried, begged, and pleated to God to make the pain stop.
As daylight hit, I was praying for wisdom.
What did I need to do?
How am I going to take care of the kids?
I noticed that my hands, feet, and legs were not as swollen.
Was my blood pressure up?
I was feeling so good the day before.
I called the doctor's office and they told me to go have my BP checked, then to call back.
165/95! That was my BP. Whoa! What?
I have a headache, but swelling is down.
I called my doctor right away. Of course I was told to come in right away.
BP was still up at the doctor office. The little one looked great on the ultrasound, but they didn't like the face that my amnio fluid was low.
I was sent straight to the hospital.
Tests were done again.
I was diagnosed with preeclampsia .
NOTHING was making my BP go down. NOTHING was helping the headache go away.
The cure? Deliver the baby.
My blood pressure was getting so high, it was in the danger zone.
Risks? Heart attack, stroke, or seizure!
Do we have a c-section? I have never had one.
Do we induce and then after so long just end up with a c-section anyway? (my body wasn't ready to "have" a baby)
After talking about it, we decided to go for the induction.
Praying it would take.
My body started responding well.
A little before 8 am, my doctor came and checked me, I was 3 cm and 90% effaced. SWEET!!!!
He told me that I would be having a baby by 10 am. He said I would skip numbers and go fast!
I did too!
Gideon was born at 8:18am!
I was nervous. Our little one was being born 4 1/2 weeks early. I didn't know what to expect.
I trusted the Lord.
I knew that in order for me to stay healthy, I needed to deliver the baby.
He was monitored the whole time, very close. He did well.
He is still doing well.
I am doing so much better! My blood pressure is down, I feel like me again!
I want to thank you all for your prayers.
God's plan! It's perfect!
We are so excited to welcome this new little Bowman!
