New Year, New You?

A question that many are asking is, "where did the year go?" I too am asking that, and as I look back at the year I see a year full of God's grace! He has truly blessed us, even when we do not deserve it. How amazing!

So as 2009 ends, it's time to look ahead to the new year. Many will be making resolutions, and yes, the things that I am going to list will fall under that category, I am looking at them more as goals and desires.

New Year, New You! My list of goals.

~ God First~ I need to have a better devotional time. From Jan 1- Mar 31 I will be doing the 90 Day Challenge. I am so excited about this challenge and I am looking forward to my time in the Word and with the Lord! My devotional time will be easier for me if I stay up after Gabe goes to work. Another "challenge"

~Restructure the day~ This will start at 5 am. I will have about 2 1/2 hours of "me" time. So that is when I will get my reading done. I am also looking at working out more and looking at getting a schedule down, chores and all. I need to get a grip on some things here at home and really feel that I need to focus on making my role as a wife and a mom a JOY!

~ Take better care of myself~ Yes this is usually on most lists for the new year. I have been working out and I love it. Now I want to focus on eating better along with working out. Eat better, work out, drink more water!

What are your goals for the new year?

The "perfect" picture

"look at mommy"
"stop picking your nose"
"put your hand down"
"leave your brother alone"
"no don't do that to you sister"
"stop crying"

Those are a few phrases said when taking a family picture. So this year we ended up having a single picture of each child. The Happy Housewife has made me show you that we are not perfect! Are you shocked by that? :) ENJOY the outtakes.

Hope has come!

While everyone is running here and there this Christmas Season, let us not forget the meaning of this hope-filled holiday!

Hope has come

Let us join with the angel voices
Let us join their happy song
All of heaven and earth rejoices
For the Lamb of God has come
He has come to rescue sinners
Come to meet our desperate need
He was born to bring forgiveness
Born for Calvary

Alleluia, Hope has come
Alleluia, Christ has come
We once were slaves in misery
Till You appeared and set us free
Alleluia, Hope has come

Let us lay our gifts before Him
Let us magnify His Name
With our thankful hearts adore Him
For the Lord has come to save
He has come to break sin’s power
He has come to set us free
Hope was born that glorious hour
Christ the mighty King

The beginning of a new tradition

During the Christmas season, I often try to think of things to do that the kids can be involved in also. Not only did I find something , but I also found a new tradition. Enjoy and have fun making memories.

2 cups sugar
3/4 cup Karo syrup
1 cup water
food coloring
1 t oil flavoring
candy thermometer

Mix Sugar, Syrup, and water in a sauce pan.
Stir until sugar is dissolved,

Mixture will come to a boil. When the mixture is 250 degrees add desired food coloring. You do not have to stir, the boiling action will mix the coloring evenly.

Continue to cook until the mixture is 300 degrees. Take off heat. When mixture has stopped boiling add desired flavoring and stir. Pour mixture into a cookie sheet. Let cool.

After it cools the fun begins. Take a knife and break the candy.

Align Center
Sprinkle with powered sugar to keep the candy from sticking together.

Then put in ziploc bags and enjoy!
